Wear appropriate winter clothing, including: a jacket or coat, inner layers of warm clothing, mittens or gloves, hats, scarves, and waterproof boots to keep your feet warm and dry
Work slowly when doing chores or other outside work
Carry a cell phone
Take a friend and an outdoor emergency kit when taking part in outdoor activities
Put snow salt, sand, or cat litter on icy spots on sidewalks, driveways, etc.
